KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE

The birth of the Union Academy High School Alumni Grand Reunion was the brainchild of Coach Claude E. Woodruff. He approached several community visionaries with a plan to reunite all alumni of Union Academy High School. A few visionaries that graduated from Union Academy felt that it was important to continue the vision, hopes, and dreams of their forefathers. This endeavor led to the creation of the Union Academy High School Alumni Association Inc.

The Union Academy Association primary goal was to perpetuate the legacy created by the historic Union Academy. The association awards both Legacy and the Legacy Empowerment Scholarships to ensure that students continue to achieve high academic success. As perpetual lead from the front visionaries, the association transitioned from primary legacy based scholarship funding to an expanded role of providing assistance to senior students from public high schools in Polk County, Florida. With the retirement of key leadership from Union Academy Alumni Association in July of 2022, a new chapter for leadership was initiated.

The class quickly agreed to assist with the final 2023 Grand Reunion. It was at the business meeting of Union Academy High School Grand Reunion that the torch was passed to the new group willing to continue the mission of the organization. The group was advised the name Union Academy High School Alumni Association would no longer be available.
